A Little More About the Classes

A small pottery group for those who want to spend a few hours each week immersed in clay, creativity, and the quiet pleasure of making things by hand.

These hand-building classes are suitable for complete beginners and experienced makers alike. Rather than following set projects, you'll be encouraged to explore your own ideas and develop your own style, with individual guidance and support along the way.

The atmosphere is relaxed and unhurried. Everyone works at their own pace, and over time the group becomes a familiar circle of makers sharing ideas, techniques, triumphs, and the occasional disaster.

Tea and coffee are always available, and you're welcome to bring your dinner, a snack, or something else to drink. All clay, glazes and firings are included.

How the Groups Work

These classes are designed as small ongoing groups rather than occasional drop-in sessions. Bookings are made week by week to allow for flexibility, but places are intended for those who plan to attend regularly throughout the term. As a guide, joining for at least five of the eight weeks helps create a consistent and supportive group for everyone.

If you'd love to join but have a less predictable schedule, you can also join as an Alternate. Rather than having a regular place in the group, Alternates are invited to fill spaces when regular participants are away. It's a lovely option for those who want to work with clay without committing to weekly attendance.

You're also welcome to come for a trial class before deciding whether to join as a regular participant or an Alternate.

At A Glance

• R450 per class, book week by week
• Maximum of 6 participants
• All materials and firings included
